Birthday madness and....the rainbow umbrella

THE LONG UMBRELLA STORY

I must admit that my birthday celebration started yesterday at school. I picked out the oh-so-popular mini cupcakes to bring to school for snacks. I couldn't wait to tell mommy that they sang Happy Birthday to me!
It has been raining here for a couple of days. Yesterday, walking in to school I noticed a lot of my friends had their own umbrella. I admired them on the way in and by the time Mommy picked me up, I had decided that I must have one! And I must have a "rainbow one" just like my friend Ava.
Mommy said we could go shopping for one when Daddy got home with some of my birthday money. She couldn't help but be surprised that out of all the things to want for my birthday, I chose an umbrella.
After every daily event, I reminded Mommy that when Daddy got home, we would go shopping for an umbrella. Mommies and Daddies have a habit of forgetting things ya know. So that was the first thing Daddy heard when he walked through the door!
After going to four different stores, we ended up at the mall at Claires. And there it was, a beautiful rainbow striped umbrella. I could choose between penguins, polka dots, Hello Kitty...but NOPE! I wanted the "rainbow one!" (Mommy gave a sigh of relief when the sales lady pulled a rainbow one out wondering how she was going to make one appear after this long shopping night.)
It wasn't raining out, but I sported my umbrella with pride as I walked to the car... and was really sad when I had to close it in the car. I wasn't raining in the living room either when I held it for 30 minutes while watching my night show! I didn't want to part with the coolest umbrella in the world!!!
We went to the museum today to celebrate my "actual" birthday. And guess what came along? And did you think I cared one bit that it wasn't raining?

There is probably one thing at this moment that I love as much as my new umbrella and that is the train! I ride it every time we go to the museum and if you come visit me, well riding the train is a must! An umbrella, the train, and my birthday...well, that is just FANtastic!

Elijah is really starting to kick those legs, especially when we talk to him. Mommy had him going in this video!

I have been busy making cards and presents lately. Here I am working on Uncle Derek's get well soon card. I did have a lotta fun!

I can't promise how long I can keep this up because I am one busy girl and proud sister. I just don't have as much time on my hands, ya know. But, we are gonna give it a shot. I also have the big responsibility of keeping you updated on Elijah so I will do my best...

Mommy has been trying to spice up art time for me. I really like using q-tips to paint. We added a new twist to it by painting on wax paper.








Mommy turned the big 3-0 a couple of days ago and I made her feel so special. I went to the store with Maw Maw and found Mommy sleeping with Eli on the couch. I said "Mommy, I got a cake for you---shh! It's a surprise! I didn't want to sing Happy Birthday to her when it was time, but of course sand while I was eating cake!



Daddy took Mommy out to dinner so we decided to take a family pic while they were all dressed fancy!




I have become a big fan of Wheel of Fortune or as I call it "Watching Letters." I like to count the number of letters on the puzzle and admire Vanna's dress. But my favorite part is when people land on the bankrupt. In fact, I kinda wish it on those poor contestants. So it didn't take long for me to want to learn how to spell bankrupt.


I started school a couple of weeks ago and I really like my new teacher. Mommy was so worried about all these new changes going on the past month, but I have adjusted just fine!





I had a homework assignment to do already. It was to make an all about me page. I helped with all of it, and am very proud!

I have also been keeping busy hanging with my buddies. The first pick is me waiting for Ms. Jessica to pick me up so I can play with my bud Peyt. The fam and I also went to the museum with Jamie and Dax and I had a great time.










I guess that's enough about me for now. Elijah is really growing even though I tell him he is so little all the time. Mommy says he looks like he is three months old already! Here are some picks of him hanging out lately...

Mommy and Daddy cannot get over how great of a big sister I have become. I cannot give Baby Elijah enough kisses. I have perfected how to give him his paci and love talking to him especially during tummy time. I don't even get jealous when Mommy can't play with me because she is feeding him. The only time I really get upset is when I can't give him kisses on his head when I want to!

I even helped Eli during his first bath. He was a real trooper and really enjoys bath time. Here are some pics and videos of his first bath.

Wanna see just how big my lil beefcake brother is getting? Here he is relaxing. Check out his cute little toes too!



I think Elijah is pretty close to smiling. He really likes it when we talk to him and make silly noises. He moves his feet and arms and makes funny faces. We have seen him smirk at us and at the light. Oh, how he loves the light! I don't really get what is so great about it, but it makes him happy. He really likes me and watches me when I bring him toys. I just love him to death and love it when I can hold him on Daddy's lap.

Summer fun...

Mommy scored this cool hopscotch thing for five bucks and I love it! Of course, I was in the middle of potty training so we have to stop like twenty times because I thought I had to go. (Or I kept holding in my BM and going to the potty every 5 minutes!)

After about the 20th trip to the potty, we gave up on water play and decided to hang out and have some popcorn and pop huge bubbles.

Ever since we started the "giving the potty training a try" about a year ago, I called my big girl underwear daisies because Daisy was on them. Well, it has stuck. Lately, I have had trouble just sitting on the sofa to watch Little Einsteins (go figure...). When Mommy has had enough of what she calls "be-bopping" on the sofa I have to lay on the floor and I love using the boppy.

Mommy and Daddy had a big party fpr the upcoming arrival of baby brother. I had a great time visiting with friends, especially Jamie. My brother's nursery theme is dinosaurs so Jamie and I made cool dinosaur hats. Our friends helped paint something for his nursery. I had a great time hosting, of course!

Jamie, Drew, and Yuko invited us to go swimming at their neighborhood pool. Mommy and Daddy were worried we might be spending a lot of time in the restroom, but it all worked out great.

I was a little hesitant at first, but warmed up to the idea of the pool. I liked to have my tube on even though I didn't really go deep enough in the water to use it!

Potty News!

We have come a long way in a week!

For almost a year now, I have tried every trick in the book to avoid using the potty. I never knew that I had an extrodinary talent: I can hold "it" for quite a long time. I would outlast my stubborn Mommy and you all know how stubborn she can be. Horrible tantrums of crying and screaming worked for a while too making them think: she might need some more time...

Well, I was doing so good holding onto those diapers, but Mommy and Daddy was in it for the long haul. Yes, big ol pregnant Mommy was willing to wait me out as long as it took.

We started out last Sunday and I held it for a good while and finally had a couple of accidents. The next day, I figured I would just hold it in. If I hold it, then no potty right?
Well, with Mommy's help and a lot of crying and screaming she helped me through letting it out in the potty. I admit, it seemed as though I was a little dramatized, but I finally did it!

It took until late Tuesday night when I finally went on the potty and seemed excited about my big acchompishent. Boy, did Mommy and Daddy feel releaved, especially when I woke them up at 4:00am to go again. Although, I wear a pull up at night, I usually wake up to potty or hold it till the morning.

Today, I finally did number two in the potty and Mommy feels like we are on our way! I still like to test my holding skills for unbelieveable amounts of time. And I always have to go when we are near a public restroom!

Mommy can't wait to update you on even more progess!

She never thought this day would finally come and will never potty train a child while she is tired and very pregnant!

The first one above is Dax and me cutting up. Mommy and Daddy can't believe how much I have taken to him and hope I feel the same way when my brother comes along.

The second is at Josh and Tina's. Mommy was a nervous wreck the whole time, but I did very well.

We just got back from a cruise to celebrate Maw Maw retiring, and I found the coolest microphone in the world!

Lately, I have been obsessed with pianos. Mimi and Mikey got me one on our trip home, and I sing and play it all the time. I was in awe of the piano player on the cruise ship. Uncle Tony says he is ready to teach me how to play. He has no idea what he is in store for!

Getting down to Little Einsteins...

WOW! Okay, so I guess you can tell that we have been pretty busy, and Mommy has been running low on gas as she get bigger and bigger! Don't worry, I have plenty of gas left for all of em! We are trying to get back on track, but this stuff is all kinda random here...

I'd say a couple of months ago, I was very interested in the emotions happy and sad. I liked showing my happy and sad face and here they are!




I scored some awesome flip flops from The Vials, and I did not want to take them off for a while. They know what a girl wants!! I even tried to bring them to bed.


Mommy and Daddy are so happy to see how much I love Dax. Mommy finds me playing with him, giving him hugs and kisses, and reading to him. He lights up when he sees me. I mean, who wouldn't right? Mommy hopes that I will have the same love for my baby brother!
